Nicole Simon

About: I am "cruel to be kind" by trade and love to bring in a european perspective. :)

Who I would like to meet:
Europeans (seriously), to talk about the upcoming Expo in Berlin as well as the Barcamp the weekend before plus everybody connecting with Europe / the German market / Girl Geek Dinners.

Twitter / Microblogging: I am writing a book about Twitter in German, to be published in December. If you are involved in this area, I'd love to get in touch with you.

If you are also flying from JFK-LAS on Friday the 19th on the non stop AA flight, I will be able to take one guest into the lounge at JFK. I can be bribed with decent caffee latte, fine chocolate and miles & points. ;)

Below is more information about me, if you are just interested in a quick snapshot:

ABOUT MYSELF:
It would be easier if I could say "Ruby" or "Marketing" but it is not that simple. I jokingly refer to my job as "paid to be cruel to be kind".

I am good at analyzing, finding patterns and structure (or faults within them) and give feedback and ideas; based on my rich experience and knowledge around topics like Business and Technology, with a special focus on the area of Web 2.0 and Social Media.

Clients do get the best results from involving me at an early stage, for example to enhance and improve their business ideas or way of implementation. See me as the sparring partner - you want me to ask certain questions (and not later your customers or your boss or VC).

I prefer work which combines technology with business, and due to the nature of my background and interests, corporate over small business.

WHAT I DO

* Helping companies understand the international aspect of their business and how to increase it. As I like to say: We have the Euro and we would like to shop. Let us spend money with you. This is mainly consulting work, done via web conferencing or in person.

* being cruel to be kind and giving feedback
If you ever need honest but constructive feedback on your strategy, concept or presentation, we should talk. This works best for areas where tech and biz are involved. Examples would be strategy for working with Web 2.0, blogger strategy / outreach, setting up and running of communities etc. My role is best described as being a sparring partner.

* structuring and streamlining
Imagine you would use your computer like a typewriter. That is what many people do in their life in and in their businesses - wasting time because nobody ever worked on the processes and streamlining them.

EUROPEAN EVENTS
I am also part of the advisory board of two of the major Web 2.0 Events in Europe, the Web 2.0 Expo Europe as well as the Next09, involved in the organization of the international Barcamp Berlin and Hamburg, and I host the German edition of the Girl Geek Dinners.
