Forecast: Partly Cloudy

10:05 - 10:55AM on Wednesday, September 17 in 1A06 &07

Clouds are moving in. The two biggest are Amazon Web Services and Google App Engine but many more are forming. What does this change in the weather mean for entrepreneurs and venture investors?

Drawing on computer science, economics, history, and examples from the USV portfolio and beyond, this talk will speculate on the impact of cloud computing on the nature of competition, the opportunities for startups, and the changing role of technology.

I wish I could attend this (just have the expo pass), maybe next time :)

I think after the cloud computing infrastructure becomes pervasive, innovation will be the main driver of success, instead of who can build the most scalable/dependable backend.

I hope I can see the video or the presentation materials afterwards.

An interesting overview of the state of "the cloud". A little more depth would have been appreciated, but the overall survey was very good.

I was expecting a presentation discussing future trends. Didn't really address an analysis of "impact of cloud computing on the nature of competition, the opportunities for startups, and the changing role of technology.". Sorry ...
