Joshua Schachter will offer unparalleled insights into how to successfully build, develop, and scale social web applications, with an emphasis on the power of community. He will also discuss how technology can augment the ability to organize, recall, and share information found on the Web, effectively making one’s memory more scalable as the amount of content proliferates.

In expanding this concept to the community level, users are able to discover additional items tagged and saved in similar interest areas. Because del.icio.us and similar systems operate primarily with the intent of allowing individuals to build and organize their own collection of information, a vibrant community encompassing a great deal of expertise on a variety of subjects is constructed. Viewing the aggregate activity inside the system allows “wisdom of the crowds”-style visualization and analysis of the daily ebb and flow of information on the Web.

Joshua nailed this. From a presentation/thematic critique, I wish that he had listed the lessons he learned numerically, which would have really focused in on the details of delicious's successes and shortcomings. We had a highly engaged audience.

Great session. One of the best I saw at the whole show. Might have been overly technical for the crowd that was there, though, but was definitely worthwhile.

I found it wasn't technical enough to qualify to be on the Development track, actually. Still, very interesting to hear about the process of maintaining an online community from Joshua!

One of the best sessions I attended. The content was much in line with what I have faced in the past or will face in the near future, so the tips and tricks were right on. Thanks for the help, I only wish I'd asked more questions. :)

Best session of the conf. Well spoken, very informative

This was one of the best sessions of the conference for me. Great on-the-ground info from Joshua about his experience with Delicious, both business and technical. Definitely would like to see him talk again.
